How do I change the dimensions of a circle?

I know it sounds like a stupid simple question, but I can't figure this out.  I've made a complex cylinder, and realized I need to adjust it diameter later in the process.  I rolled back the history to the circle sketch I started with, and I just want to change it's diameter.  How do you do it?

Hi,

Just drag anywhere on circumference of a circle and it will update. If you wish to be precise, use sketch dimensions to enter specific value.

Its not that complex 🙂

Hope this helps.

Right click on the circle and select edit sketch or right click the sketch in the timeline or browser and select edit sketch, then if the circle is dimension already double click the dimension and edit. If there's no dimension you could drag to size or add a dimension. By the way there's no need to roll the timeline back, selecting edit sketch will automatically roll back to the sketch.

Hi,

Today is the fist day I am using F360.  I can pull the circle to a new size but I can't get the exact size.  Is there some type of "properties" pane that I could enter the new size?

Thanks,

John

If you can drag the circle to a new size, then

Create a Dimension for it, press d on the keyboard, click on the circle, a box pops up, With a blue number in it, that's what size it is now, overtype and put the size in there that you want, press enter to confirm, will jump to correct size and you have to change that number from now on to change size, by then clicking on the number, for the box to come back.

Hi jlv11,

you can use parameters for all dimensions if you have Design History enabled (which is by default for all documents).

Change Parameters.png

Here you can create new user parameter(s)

User parameters.png

new parameter "c_dia" in this case you can use as a parameter for dimension:

Anytime later you can change the value of the user parameter and your circle will recalculated.

I could not get any of these approaches to changing the diameter of a circle sketch to work.

we will need more information than that,

My earlier post has the technique, only thing I left out was - but you need to be editing the actual sketch the circle is in.

Might help...

Just in case someone else does the same as I did. Check you have the right 'Selection Priority' turned on. Select>Selection Filters>Select All. No wonder I couldn't select the dimension 🙂

None of this is working for me. I cannot change the circle diameter. Any help would be appreciated.

Watch this Screencast video showing how easy this is. If your model/sketch is different than this simple cylinder, then you're going to need to SHOW us what is not working. We would like to help you, but you have to help us help you. Either put some pictures up, put a video up, attach your file so we can take a look at it, or at the very least describe in detail exactly what you have to work with, what you're doing, and what fails.

Thanks for your assistance. I am new to Fusion 360 and am frustrated.

My problem may be related to these "ghost" steps on the timeline.

What am I doing wrong to cause this?

Looks, like you have to initially show dimensions when creating the circle to be able to go back and edit it. I am also having the same circle resizing issue after ending the sketch. This is rather frustrating.

Dimensions are automatically hidden after exiting sketch environment to clear up clutter.

You have two choices:

1. Right click select Edit on the sketch - your dimensions will now be visible again.

2. Right click select Show Dimensions on the sketch - your dimensions will now be visible again.

I think this is covered in one of the Tutorials.

They have now added the ability to hide dimensions while in sketch mode to add to the 2 options above. Of course it would be easier to help people if they uploaded pictures of what they're seeing. Show dimensions is not available if you right click the sketch in the timeline, would be very useful if it was.

I see no "edit sketch" option when I right click on the circle. I see a "sketch" option. When I click it, ther is no "edit" option. Please advise.
