Using external DXF eats my machine

I have a complicated DXF file from a vendor's part outline, but it takes forever to load, doesn't respect when I tell it to use millimeters as units, and when I try to select it in its entirety, the system spins seemingly forever until Windows 10 reports that it runs out of RAM and shuts down Fusion.
This kinda sucks. What can we do about this?

Hi Tim!

Thanks for reporting this. There are several discussions on this one that provide some good tips on how you might be able to make the DXF file hum in Fusion. Check out these discussions and let me know if they help.

I think the key will be to leverage the Insert command to insert the DXF so that you can put the sketch entities into different sketch features according to their layer.

Let me know if you have any questions. I hope this helps!

Thanks,
