How can I make an opening bigger? (re: select edges and extrude/cut?)

I have a model with a USB-C hole (ie. a rectangle with rounded corners) but I'd like to make it just a tiny bit bigger.

How can I do this?

I'd like to just select each edge of the opening and extrude (ie. cut) but that doesn't seem possible?

It depends on how it was created.  If the edges are not planar, then Press/Pull may work.  If they are planar, then selecting each edge in turn and extruding should work.  By far the easiest method is to edit the sketch which was used to create the opening.  You did use dimensions didn't you?  Of course, you also used the timeline?

Hi,

Please share the file.

File > export > save as f3d on local drive  > attach it to the next post.

Here is the F3D file.  You will see the USB-C jack on the back of the enclosure.  I just need to enlarged a very small amount.  (ie. it's too small/tight when I 3D print it)

Oops!  I'm very sorry.  Is this file OK?  (I only have the option of F3Z instead of F3D).

Thank you so much for helping me!

Thank you so much!  It looks like I need to learn what the 'Project' command does but that works perfectly.  Thanks again!

I'm so sorry, but can you help me with one more thing?

I'm trying to extend/pull another curved surface and I'm trying to use the Project tool but can't figure out how to apply it to this situation:

I'm trying to push/extend the two curved surfaces to the large highlighted surface.

Is this something I would use the Project tool for?  I was hoping I could just pull the curved surfaces but that doesn't seem to work.

I've attached an updated F3Z file but the old one is similar.

Thank SO MUCH for any help!

Both sides of the Landing?

Edit Sketch 33, Add 2 vertical lines 21.00 apart, symmetric to the centre line.

Edit the Extrusion beside it, and take those two regions away from the extrude.

Edit the Fillet Feature that was there if needed.

Thank you so much!  I'm able to edit Sketch 33 to add the vertical lines but I'm stuck on editing the extrusion next to it.  I'm sorry can you describe that step in more detail?

(Also, yes I'd like this on both sides of the landing)

The block you want to match, is 21.00 wide.

Sketch 33 updated does nothing on its own.

In the timeline, the extrusion feature that cuts those 4 holes is next to the sketch 33.

Edit the Extrusion feature, and select the two new profiles you put in the sketch, to “not include” these areas in the cut out.  Select ok.

You should have the cutouts fixed now, but you have to fix the Fillet, that was lost,

I edited the fillet command and added the 4 new fillets into it.

All done.

OK - Here I've edited sketch 33 in the timeline history to add the two lines:

...and then I try to edit the extrude feature (the next item in the timelint):

I can see the two lines I've added but I can't deselect that area.  I've tried showing/hiding the sketch, etc.

Again I'm really sorry for so many questions and not being able to complete this on my own...

Hide the body, and each of the sketches with the eyeballs, and then unhide the sketch 33.

change the dimension.  Your 2 new lines, are not 21 apart, centre line is 10.5 from both.

That’s weird, sketch has black lines, but Extrude has blue.  Do not select the lines, just the blue shading in the areas you are fixing.

Finish sketch, and unhide the body, your black lines should line up with the tab you are matching.  Edit the Extrude, it says 6 selected, just like that picture, left click the areas you just made, selected will say 4 selected, select ok.

Or cancel the selected areas, and reselect - click on the 4 you do want.

Might help....
