How can i import Collada (DAE) files into Fusion 360?

Hello,

i am new to Fusion 360, i worked with Sketchup and used some .dea files. I recently switched to Fusion 360, because of it's better features.

But now i can't use my .dea files, when i import them into Fusion 360 and click on them they open in the browser and i can view them, but i can't add them to my design. So obviously Autodesk knows collada files, so how can i add them to my design?

Greetings from Germany.

You could try to import Collada in Blender and re-export as .obj.

Sketchup models are mesh models and not solid models or surface models. So that is also what the Collada file is going to contain. If you want to work with these files in Fusion 360 you can expect some cleanup work.

Thanks for your quick reply!

Well that explains it, I will try the blender conversion asap.

PS: It would be nice if the user can convert the model in the autodesk online viewer, just as a feature suggestion.
