Hole in mesh possible?

Hello!

I'm trying to create a hole in a meshed figure. However using combine wouldn't let me select the meshed figure as the target body. Is it possible?

Thanks

I've attached a picture as well

That mesh should be low-poly enough for you to be able to do this. You can convert the mesh object into a BRep (solid body) edit it just milke any other solid body.

However, i am wondering what you would import such a simple object into Fusion 360 in order to edit it. The objects in that screenshot can be created with the native tools in Fusion 360 in less than 10 minutes.

In that case, you should be able to convert the mesh to a BRep.

Thanks! I needed to do this too. Mine was a mesh of a miniature vice chuck which had its gears modelled by someone else and it would have been very difficult to replicate the curved gear teeth without access to the original CAD. All I wanted to do was punch a small dent into it for part identification numbering. Converting to solid body did the trick for me! In doing this, I ran into another problem where if you create a construction plane onto which to make your sketch for creating the cut into the existing body, if the plane is extremely close to the object to be cut then Fusion360 can have trouble locating the part to be cut, so just move the construction plane say 1mm away from the face to be cut into, and then add 1mm to the cutting depth to compensate for the distance from the plane, and that worked perfectly 😁
