Holding Middle Mouse Button Zooms Out While Panning

I have a problem with panning in Fusion. When I presss and hold the middle mouse button instead of only panning it pans and zooms out continuously until I release the middle mouse button. I have swapped out the mouse and it still does this. If I presss Shift and the middle mouse button it orbits as it should. Can anyone help me with this?

After becoming annoyed with the middle mouse button zooming while orbiting, I tried to follow this article to solve the issue. After accidentally assigning Left Scroll and Right Scroll to Unassigned rather than Do Nothing, then restoring defaults, I lost all mouse orbit. Here is a summary of what worked for me.

• Download Logitech's SetPoint Settings program.
• Select Button 3 Universal Scroll
  • Select Task Other > Middle Button
• Select Button 6 Left Scroll
  • Select Task Other > Do Nothing
• Select Button 7 Right Scroll
  • Select Task Other > Do Nothing

Keep in mind that depending on your Logitech mouse, these buttons could be named differently by default. Also, inherent to this solution is a lose of left and right scrolling in any other application.

I just bought a G502 to use with Fusion360, and noticed the same behavior... here's what I think happens, the modern logitech scroll wheels are built to have some momentum, they are heavy and I really enjoy this when scrolling pages.

The problem is that when we have to use this same wheel as a button, the scrolling function activates a little or a lot depending on the steady hand we have while holding the wheel down and this makes Fusion zoom in or out. 

The solution for me was very simple, because it was the main purpose of getting this funny looking mouse in the first place, I hate using the wheel as a button, so my plan was to start using any of the many programmable buttons as middle click and the logitech software for this mouse can do it and it works great, I used "the sniper button", that logitech places very conveniently at my thumb's tip and I use the scroll only as zoom or if I'm in a context menu, etc.

I'm now in love of this setup, having a real button for the most used function is a great plus and will speed up my workflow.

Thanks!  I have the Logitech G502 mouse, and was seeing the same problem of pressing the middle mouse to pan and having the model zoom out.  Turns out that I'm pushing the mouse wheel just slightly to the left when I press it, which activates both the zoom out and pan functions.

I have the same problem with my Logitech mouse (G700).
Setting the middle mouse button task to middle mouse button did not do a thing.
Setpoint doesn't recognise the G700 so I have to use the Gaming Software that does the same thing.

I noticed a difference between the right and the middle mouse button.
They both pan (or both pivot) but if I click the right mouse button quick a popup menu appears.
This does not happen when I klick the middle mouse button. 

So... Fusion seems to "know" the two buttons are different...

I have no idea what that means but I thought I should share..

I know this is years' long thing here but everyone kept barking up the wrong tree. The issue is that Fusion accepts zoom input while in panning mode, which is a BUG in Fusion360

The Logitech mice are far superior to the competition as they usually come with very sensitive scrolling. With the middle button being the scroll wheel if you hold your hand very steady the issue does not come up but usually while dragging the mouse around it is difficult to do so so eventually you will scroll your stuff out of view.

WORKAROUND(but as close to a solution as one can  without devs admitting that this is a real BUG) is to set the camera control set to something that does not suck and I found that selecting Solidworks does not produce the same issue even though it relies on the scroll wheel push as well as the Fusion one. Maybe this one was implemented by some other coder in the team with some common sense onboard. 😄 Aaaaanyway other control sets eliminate the usage of the middle button altogether. Hi everyone, so I use the MX3 as well...the problem was with Logi Options update. My scroll button was also mis-behaving for zoom and orbit. I just updated the Logi Options app and restarted my pc. It worked as earlier!

This problem has been vexing me for a long time.  Just now, after reading this thread, I thought I would try changing my Logitech mouse settings.  Instead of setting the middle mouse function to "middle mouse", I selected "Multi Key" and set it up using a space (so I could save the command) and right click inserted a mouse "middle click down" function and saved that and it now seems to be working just fine.  I hope this helps people suffering the same problem.

To solve the problem with the middle mouse button I did the following:
- Install the Logi Options+ app.

- Run the App and select the mouse.
- Click "Buttons" on the left menu
- For the tilt left button,  tilt right button and the wheel button select the action "Middle Button".
