Help with Slicer for Fusion 360

Currently I am using slicer to profile large structures out of foam. Once built there is not much integrity with all the seams lining up. Is there a way to create an offset for each layer or adjust them manually?

Hi @Lukeg0304, I'm not sure I understand what your asking. Is this the Slicer that came out of 123D make(app store) EDIT: Sorry this app is no long available. or the Slicer for 3D printing? You could also slice the object with a series of offset planes. In Fusion 360 you can create offsets, after the object is brought into the slicer I'm not sure but I don't think so. If you have software that can manipulate the sliced files changes could be made there but hard to know how it will effect things down the line.

@Joshua.Aigen So I am cutting stacked slices out of foam to build rock structures for a cave. The only issue I am having is all the seams line up as opposed to to being offset from one stack to another. They all align straight up throughout the parts I am building. If this doesn't explain it so well i will try to get a screen shot to you. I am using slicer for fusion 360.

@Lukeg0304, very interested in your workflow. What scale are the rock structures? A screenshot would help but if you can include the F3D file. I've done a bunch of blue foam hot wire fabrication at my last job so happy to help any way that I can.

@Joshua.Aigen , Let me get with my boss as many of our things are under NDA's, I would hate to send the wrong thing. I should be able to get something to you around 8am(Central) tomorrow.

@Joshua.Aigen Just spoke with him, I'm good to get an .obj file to you. I attached 2 screenshots. The first one is kind of hard to tell but what I am wanting to do is to be able to offset each layer from one another so the stacked seams are not in the same spot all of the way up. So as far as visually the seam looking at it from the back would appear to be a zig zag as opposed to being a straight line all the way up. I still have to keep specific edges flush but were the seams lay, I would like them to alternate, so that there will be some structural integrity. In the second message im going to attach pictures of actual material. The first shows the current seam and the second show what i would prefer it to do.
