Help with curving a surface?!

I am working on some drawings to send to a machinest for manufacture. (Still looking for a machinest Anyway it appears that I've got the device drawn up ok but I still need to put at least 2 flat surfaces on the cylinder. Tried to sketch and extrude but no joy. I'll need to do this again on another design so any suggestions are much appreciated. Additionally, how do I get the drawings saved into a format that I can print on a regular printer?

If you need fully dimensioned drawings look at the create drawing feature, help link below. You can save as a PDF and print from that.

Hello, Thank you for your response, however your response did not show me what I'm asking. I think it might have something to do with constraining. I am going to try to attach my project and show some problems I'm having with what I'm learning from some of these tutorials. In this one, on the base I'm just trying to put 2 flat surfaces on the base of my cylinder. I am not trying to extrude them outward. Just a cylinder with two flat surfaces on it. I was able to get the two flat surfaces but they are not equal nor do they seem straight. Also, while trying to put the ports onto my cylinder, I had to go and draw each cylinder. One didn't match up so I tried the mirror command. While I got the correct port on the opposite side, it didn't go all the way through. It left a thin plane between that port and the corresponding port from the other side. Then once I get this complete I will need to send it out to be quoted which I haven't figured out yet either. Also I don't know how to send the file to a machinest nor do I know if you will be able to see the whole file.

Hello, thank you for your reply. I have not checked the link you sent but will as soon as I finish this reply. When I try to "save as", it does not offer me a "pdf" file extension.

Ok, I looked at the video but it doesn't say how to get to that 2D drawing from the original drawing. Also I still do not see how to "save as" to a pdf.

It woud occur to me that you are lacking some findamentals so before you send documents to a machinist you should make sure to watch all the introductry videos in the Suppot & Learing section.

You cannot simly save a 3D model and expect that to turn into a properly dimensioned manufacturing drawing.

I don't know if the slots through the component are supposed to have mismatch or should be straight though. If they're supposed to be straight through there is an option for 2 sided or symmetrical on the extrude dialog.

Also noticed you deleted a slot, created a new sketch then created a new slot. You could have just edited sketch 4 and edited the slot and the extrude would have update to match the sketch. Spend some time on the tutorials and you'll save yourself a lot of time. This complete model only needed 3 sketches, one revolve, 2 extrusions and 2 threads, 8 features in total not 30!

So does that mean that you were able to see the project I put up? You are correct in that I've only been working on this software for about 4-5 days even though my trial is about to end. As far as I know, I can only see tutorials on youtube.

No sir, you are 100% correct. The slots are supposed to go straight through. Thank you! Were you able to see what I did wrong with the two flat survaces on the base? or are they correct?

Don't know why but for some reason those commands aren't working for me. How do I find the beginning of the tutorials? I'm about out of time on this one.

I made a few changes - examine each sketch and feature carefully.

Your file was not close to being ready for manufacture.

As a hobbyist - you should qualify as a free user.

  Well for some reason I cannot open the files. Also I guess I made the wrong selection when I got the notice. I selected start up. Am I able to go back and change that? I tried to open the files in Fusion 360 but when I go into finder I do not see Fusion 360. This is becoming frustrating. I will try again.

On the file menu use New design from file to import the f3d files. If you registered as a startup you should be able to renew for another year. If you do a search on the forum you should find some help on renewing your subscription.

Ok, I got the files in. I tried to do a sketck like the one you show for another piece I'm working on but for some reason it didn't work like yours. It went in the wrong direction at about the 3rd or 4th line detents. I may be wrong but the plane on the back, is that how you made the flat sections on the cylinder? Also on the vertical plane that bisects the length of the break. What command did you uset to get the ports to go all the way through? Mine stopped at the plane and left a thin piece of metal. Also, I'm not understanding how you got the multiple ports as I only see the one on the sketch. On the ports you put in, I noticed that they were centered on the center line. Must they be done that way? That's not what I'm looking for. I need to move them up closer to the top of the cylinder. If I go back into my drawing, how can I delete the items that I need to in order to be able to make the corrections? I'm going to go try this while I await your response.

Ok, don't know if I did this right but this is what I've got so far. I'm not sure if the tangent plane at the base is done correctly as I could not find "Mill Sketch"

Well, I've got the planes but don't see how you got the cylinder for the body from that sketch. And don't understand the curve part.
