[Help] Trying to design a push release for two connecting tubes

As the title says, I have two tubes that are connection and I am trying to design a release mechanism.  I have no idea how to search for advice on this either because I'm sure I'm calling it the wrong name. Any help would be great. I provided a screenshot of my design.screenshot of tube.PNG

Hi there,

Thanks for posting! I've done a quick replica model in Fusion which I've attached, and created a screencast for you to follow which covers the following:

- Creating joints with components

- Editing Joint limits

- Applying contact sets

- Reverting the assembly back to its original position

If this is what you're looking for please click 'Accept Solution'.

Thanks,

Graham

That is helpful to see the motions of it. I guess the problem I'm having is designing it for practical use. I am designing this to 3d print. So i am struggling with the method to design something that can be physically pushed, because obviously if I were to print that now, the buttons wouldn't move at all and it would be impossible to get them to connect.

Right now I'm trying to design the push mechanic and then some how hallow out the area where it would go on the pope to allow movement.

I think i figured out what I"m trying to do, lets hope the print works.

I hallowed out the area I wanted to add the connector button (my lingo is terrible, i'm' sorry).  then added the shape I was looking for after I hallowed it out and the base gives it enough support for the bend to happen.screenshot of tube 3.PNG

I'll follow up if this works

You may want to research the elastic/nonelastic deformation properties of the material you will use. This will help you decide how long the tang needs to be, based on how much you need to bend it, such that it will not permanently deform when you do so.

Or you may just want to print a test piece and test it. Probably easier.

I would look into that, due to time constraints I had to print what I designed there, of course as you said, it deformed already due to the orientation i printed it in.

I think in the future i will probably do some test prints to see what works best
