Help required with plastic modelling part

Hi All, 

I'm trying to model the component named "Top Cap V3" in this file set. 

There are three main components. 

Top Cap - Plastic

BackBone - 2mm Steel

Front Door - 2mm Steel

 

The Top cap sits over the front door and backbone. 

The front door and backbone have a 25degree angle sloping. 

I need the top cap to sit over the steel in an inverted "U" shape, as per attached sketch below. 

 

 

 

 

 

The underside of that top cap has to follow the shape of the Front Door / Backbone in an inverted "U" . 

 

I have tried to draw this using construct Plane at Angle but keep running into issues. 

 

Would anyone have any advice / help?

Please keep in mind that the Backbone has an offset in it which I tried to match in the cap groove.  You have some serious modeling errors scattered around that made this task much harder than it should have been.  One big issue is that your sheet metal body14 was not created as a component.  I removed the file linking so I could work with the other components with relation to the cap.  Model is attached.  Please do not forget to select the "Accept Solution" icon to close this post or ask further questions.  The model has a Section Analysis active at the time of export.

 

Edit: If you want to remove the cap, Suppress do not delete, this Joint.

This was not a Quick modeling job, not drawing as you mistakenly call it, process.  The main reason is the complicated contours, caused mainly by the back panel.  This is where the time is taken up.  Once these were created I used surfaces to define the inside walls of the required groove because they are very easy to work with.  Then is an easy task to Extrude the walls of the cavity to the existing cap and Split Body using the Cap angle plane.  I used the Remove command to take away the Split Body remnants, you cannot delete them.  The video will describe the rest.

Follow the recommendations you've  already received, e.g. fully constraining  and dimensioning your sketches, and not deleting stuff in the timeline and then ignoring warnings 😉

 

Start with this model from scratch, post progress and ask for feedback. In my experience, that is much more effective and efficient than following some tutorial. Something many tutorials do is teach technique but they fall short in teaching concepts.
