Getting rid of grids

I had my preferences pretty much like I wanted them, then I got confused and got them all out of whack. How bad could it be just to hit the 'return to default' option. Now I'm trying to put things back like they were and it's not all that intuitive. Today's question is: How do I get rid of this grid pattern that shows up, but only some of the time? For now at least, I don't think I need it. Thank you

if it's only showing up some of the time it's probably the sketch grid, and it's showing up while you're editing a sketch.  you can toggle on and off from the sketch pallet-

If the Grid is showing up when in the model, not in a sketch, remove this check.
