Text on a Twisted Surface
Emboss worked for me, even though there is no text in the file, or where to put it.
Might help....
Try emboss with just a few letters at a time. Use an offset face to trim them to the same height.

Hi,
Yes there is but like the other methods it gets a bit messy. How about creating the text you want in your editor of choice
and then creating a jpg of it. Save with a transparent background. Then apply it as a decal to your surface.
The Decal will wrap itself around the surface. It will follow contours and even wrap around the edges. If all you want
is text then that is the way to go. If you then want to emboss it then you will have to do it the harder suggested way
of a few at a time and trimming etc.
