get rid of join animation

Anonymous

I found the setting in preferences that doesn't animate the parts shaking for rigid, etc. But it's Still too slow because it animated one part to the next. And SLOWLY. I'm looking for speed here folks. This is frustratingly slow.

I've got 30 screws to place. I don't have all day.

Any way to either speed that way up, or get rid of it altogether?

You can turn off joint animations under Preferences -> General -> Design -> Animate Joint Preview

You can also check the Limit Effects to Optimize Performance under the Help Icon (?) -> Graphics Diagnostics -> Troubleshooting

I feel like you didn't actually read my post.

Turning off "Animate Joint Preview" turns off the animation of the type of joint. It does Not turn off the parts animating together. I would like to turn that off.

Your second suggestion just automatically turns off some visual features, and has nothing to do with animating pieces.

I think this is likely a feature request, so perhaps I'll have to go there.

Yep sorry I misread.

How about using Align and then As-built Joint?

I was creating the joints in order to move the objects to where they go.

Now I see I could have just used align. I didn't think about that. No need for a joint.

Also, for some reason as built joints are really slow in my file. It does that odd, half the interface goes black while it's thinking, thing.

Anyway, I already have this done. I was just curious if I could turn off the animation, and it looks like you can't.

That's one of the features that makes me feel like Fusion is a toy. You should Definitely be able to turn that off manually. Working with a really heavy model, you'll want to minimize having to move around those parts. Think about something like a juicer with a hole pattern in it. Yeah, I don't want to move that part Any more than absolutely necessary.

I am new to fusion 360 but I agree that the hovering highlighting is very hard to get used to. Not sure what the proper avenue is to file a request but would love to do so and pray that the option to disable this is forthcoming.

I agree with your assertion that you want to turn off the animation of the joints.

There are frequent times when I want to turn it off too.

If you are only positioning screws, you can use the Align command to position them and then use Rigid Group.

Even if you have several parts, you can simply click on the places you want to position one after another without leaving the Align command.

This is easier than setting up joints one by one, and more importantly, you don't have to fill up the screen with joint icons.

We have made a video of the situation we are working on, hope it helps.

if you use align to position your components, the positions won't be parametric.  make a change to your main body and you will have to re-align all your bolts again.

the only viable ways to position components with respect to each other is to either use a regular joint, or to build them "in place" and use an "as built joint" or rigid group to keep them in place.  all other methods lead to trouble down the road.

@laughingcreek

Thanks for pointing that out, I overlooked something important, sorry about that.

However, it is possible to omit the animation for placement, so if the animation stalls the process, I think if you use Align to move it into position and then do a Joint, the situation will improve somewhat.
