Fusion 360 Crashes when inserting design into current Design

Hi,

I've recently installed Fusion 360 and when I insert a design into a "current design" the program freezes, works after 5 minutes but freezes once more again and again. My Mac says that the "application is not responding".

Would the problem be linked to the design or more the computer (MacBook Air 2015).

Thanks,

FZ

Hi,

It takes some time but can be imported.

I think a changed construction would be better.
I will attach one.

@Anonymous - that is interesting.  It is a small design.  At first I did not believe it would be slow to insert, because it is quite quick to open.  However, it is definitely slow to insert, which does not make sense.  Let us investigate a bit further to see if we can figure out what is going on - thanks for sharing the design with us.  Until then, I would recommend using @g-andresen 's model instead.

looking at your design a bit more, as @Phil.E discovered, the reason why this design is slow to insert seems to have to do with this fillet:

this fillet produces a very small sliver face here:

that I suspect is the source of the problem.

When this fillet is suppressed, the design inserts very quickly into another design.

So, again, the best advice here is to look at the design by @g-andresen for ideas on how to model this more efficiently.

Hi all,

Thank you for the useful responses and the model.

It's interesting to know that the small silver face causes that.

Coming from Rhinoceros software, I did not think of extruding first then cutting with the shell function, which is a good idea.

Thanks again,
