force constraints on corners of two components

I'm so new that I know I'm ignorant of the simplest things.

So...I've created 2 component bodies that I want to have tied together at a coincident point.

The attached images show my problem.

thanks!

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Use Joint, and do not use Move.

Joint will hold the position, Move will not.

Joints have degrees of freedom for animation, Move does not.

After using a Move / Capture Position without a Joint, the Component is still unlocked and free to be moved again, click drag accident or intentional.

Might help....

without seeing the file, can only give general answers.

and need some clarification.  do you have 2 separate COMPONETS, each with a body in them, or do you just have 2 seperate bodies?

components are positioned by either building them  "in place" (not what you've appeared to have done) or by using joints.  no other ways.  DO NOT USE MOVE OR ALLIGN.  it'd not parametric for component moves, and requires a position capture to keep it in place.  either reason is a good enough reason to not use move or allign.

Thanks for the reply.

I think you may have hit the nail...

here's the google doc link to the file

Of course I am hacking at it pretty hard, but the previous version was 20MB, and this one is tiny.  I deleted an entire timeline on one component and started over, and this doesn't have the spiral columns, but.... Is that weird?

CADwhisperer,
The general consensus appears to be that I need to be using joints.
