Flatten a curved surface

Hello,

I want to build a small looping to drive an rc car through. As I want to build it from sheet metal I need a good idea what form to cut from the material. I thought it would be easy to do in Fusion 360 and I got very close to what I want really fast but now I'm stuck. I don't even need a full model, or even a sheet metal model, it would be totally sufficient if I just get the shape of the part I need to cut out.

I created this spiral that has all the right dimensions so that the outside face conforms to what I need. But I can't manage to find out how to lay it flat so that I can make a pattern.

I've recorded a screencast of what I did and hope someone can help.

Thanks a lot!

Martin

If all you need is the length just use the measure function on the outside curve or just use diameter times PI. The flattened form is just a rectangle.

Examine the attached part.

It has all the functionality that you need to adapt to your part.

You think so?,   Rectangles from cylinders, parallelograms from coils, but an easy development for cutting.

Yeah, I know, but I didn't think it was important enough to correct.
