Flatten a curved surface.

I can't figure this one out! I thought the sheet metal workspace would save me but no luck. All I need to do is flatten this curve so I can laser cut it....

Any thoughts?

What happened to our sketch(es) for creating the geometry?

This .stp file was given to me by a Rhino using co-worker. No sketch is available. I guess there's a simple was to do it in Rhino but I need to be able to do these in Fusion long term.

Hmm, it is easy to get a Flat Pattern with a specialized technique (image), but I am holding onto the technique details until after AU.

Just some encouragement with a bit of logical thought - it can be done and is easy to convert your imported STEP to sheet metal flat pattern.

@TheCADWhisperer I've come up with a way of doing this, think it might be how you've demonstrated before. I can get a flat pattern OK but if I use Unfold Fusion crashes, did you try unfold? Not sure about uploading the design, don't want to give your secrets away although I might have done it differently.

Hmmm, Unfold does present an issue in this case even though Flat Pattern worked.

Yeah, I'm hitting nothing but walls here. Might need to cut bait as I've already burnt too much time trying to solve this.

Just a simple box which I can unfold but having someone gave me a curved body as a .stp file and no sketch is proving difficult.

I'll see if I can ping Ron Jones for you and perhaps he can demonstrate the technique for converting imported STEP to Fusion Sheet Metal.

I think if you put a sketch on the flat end and extrude as join you will be able to unfold the curved portion. If you want an example look at the YouTube video where a cylinder is opened flat,

I am sorry I cannot test this, and I tried.  The release I received today flopped so many ways I gave-up. I have reported my problems in another posting.
