sidecar 1 v3.jpg

I am trying to round the edge around the opening of this model by using a filet but Fusion just states an error and will not preform the operation. Any suggestions on a work around? Thanks!

I would make sure you haven't selected too large of a value for the filet radius. The largest radius you could handle is probably half the thickness of the wall you have there. When I run into these issues, I start with a really low value and slowly increase it until there's an issue. Then I look for areas that might be causing it trouble. it might be you have a really tight radius along the opening and the fillet can't handle it.

Put a curvature comb on the edge in question.  You may have a funky condition that isn't visible to the naked eye that should show up with the comb.  Did this start out as a tspline body that had a section cut out of it?  I've seen this type of problem happen close to the star points.

Post your model so someone can look.

I can't tell whether that is a tape dispenser or a soap box derby racer. I'm withholding any Fusion advice until you elaborate.

I never have used the curvature comb before so I'll try that next. I have been isolating the problem in the model by splitting the body and seeing what sections will fillet properly. I have it down to one small section that seems to have a weird chamfer. It must have happened when I shelled the model. Not quite sure how to fix it.

The model is a sidecar for an electric bike I am building.

Thanks

10 to 1 you're having issues because the fillet is trying to modify a previously defined curve, like a spline. Like others have said, try starting the fillet at a VERY small radius, like 1mm, then work up from there. Good luck!
