I propose a new Motion within the Joint and As-Built Joint tools: Spring with a compress or extend criterion selection.
Feature Request: Spring Joint
Not sure if this is what you're trying to accomplish, but you can use a cylindrical joint & set the linear min, max, and rest points to simulate a spring connection.
