Falloff Help

Hi everyone,

I've just begun exploring the possibilities of Fusion and think it has amazing potential.  I used falloffs a huge amount when modelling in other programs, and trying to replicate something I use very often but can't seem to get it right.  I may be incredibly spoiled by MODOs amazing falloff tools, but maybe I've just not found the right settings in Fusion yet:  I'm trying to scale a cylinder, using soft selection to achieve an 'ease-out' profile - I've attached an image of this profile as a curve.

I've also attached some images of MODO - starting with a 6 segment cylinder, I apply a falloff across the full length of the cylinder (conveniently MODO allows the falloff type to be set as ease-out) - and then I scale the cylinder.

You can see in the third image I have attached the result - really smooth accelerating change in curvature - does anyone know how to achieve this in Fusion?

Thanks!

I've managed to get something similar using the falloff type as sphere when scaling up, however when I try and scale down, I don't get that consistent change in curvature, it looks much more like the 'smooth' falloff type.  Any ideas?

hmm...with some further playing, it looks like the sphere falloff is the closest I'm going to get, back it only works the way I want it to when scaling up...but I want to be able to scale down and would therefore need an inverted version of the sphere gradient - could this be moved to feature requests please?

If you're used to model in Modo you can continue to do so, export the control mesh for your Sub-D model as a .obj, import into Fusion 360 and convert it into a T-Spline.

Some do this as well with Blender, others use Maya 3DS MAx etc.

Works quite nicely if you are more familiar with more advanced modeling tools in Modo.

Thanks Trippy, I had thought about that but one of the biggest draws of Fusion was the ability to complete the subd modelling inside the same app.  Hopefully the falloff tools will improve in future updates!
