Extruding with different taper angles on parallel faces

Hi,

I recently modeled an integrated circuit (IC) in DIP-8 form factor (dimensioned drawing here). The main body of the IC is basically a rectangular body which tapers in both directions from the midline, but with different taper angles for the longer faces and the shorter faces.

How I did this

1. Sketch the a rectangle for the middle of the IC body

2. Symmetrically extrude with the taper angle of the longer faces

3. Split the body along the midplane

4. Draft the four shorter faces to correct the taper angle

I'm quite new to Fusion360 and I'm curious if there is a faster/better way to do this.

Thanks!

Chris

Method 1:

Use a two direction chamfer.  Use a formula to create the distance for each direction.

Method 2:

Draw the end profile.

Extrude.

On a new sketch, draw the side profile.

Draw a boundary around the side profile.

Extrude|Cut the boundary.

Method 1 will be easier to modify parametrically.
