Extruding Object from Sketch Projected To A Surface

Hi,

I have projected a sketch to a three dimensional surface. The sketch is therefore not in one plane since the surface is not completely flat. I'm not able to extrude an object from this closed sketch. The lines of the sketch are connected but the inside area does not turn yellow. I have attached a screen shot and file.

A simple press/pull will fail here. 

A extrude would need need a to start from the geometry shown but end with a sketch on a plane above it. 

It maybe a idea to try this in the sculpt work space! Have you tryied that?
