Exporting deformed results of FEA simulation

I'm interested in exporting the deformed prediction for 3D printing and or overlay against the original model.  Is this possible?

So, I've installed and downloaded Paraview:

                    https://www.paraview.org/

Very  software.  Plenty of "How To" videos on the web.  However I have not been able to view anything other than the first step of an event simulation.

 

Has anyone had any luck viewing all the steps of an event simulation in Paraview?  OR even the last step?

Hi @mmilleratticus 

The export command only exports the current step that you are viewing, so it will definitely not output all of the results.

 

If you view the last step and create the output, what results does Paraview show? 

 

[edit 1. To clarify my original post, the VTU output gives the undeformed mesh (the nodes, coordinates, elements) and the current result that is being viewed -- stress, total displacements, whatever result is chosen in the pull-down selector.]

Screenshot of the imported results in Paraview.  For some reason the filter "Warp by Vector" is grey.  I'm guessing that is critical to an accurate deformation.  I'm wondering if the data out from Fusion isn't in a format that Paraview sees the vector??

 

Seems like a lot of work to get at something that is essentially available in Fusion and a useful tool.

Hi,

 

After seeing your post, I realized that my initial reply was incomplete. I just updated it. Essentially, the undeformed mesh (nodes, elements, coordinates) and the result that is currently displayed is written to the VTU file. In your case, the von Mises stress is written. Since the VTU file does not contain any information about the displacement, Paraview would not be able to show a real deformed shape. (My guess is the deformation that is shown is based on the stress magnitude in the file.)

 

Yes, Fusion has limited capabilities by design.
