I think this used to be possible, even if the source of the derive is a configuration. And then, it stopped working.
Bug or feature?
I want to derive this design but exclude some components, selected out in the dialog. But when I finish the derive, the entire design is imported, including the undesired components.
Seems to work for me.
Just select the component you don't want and the X should become selectable. This works for bodies, sketches etc.
In your image the component doesn't look like it's selected, it's not highlighted.

Sorry didn't read carefully enough. I can confirm what you are seeing with a derive from a design with configurations. Excluding items works fine with ordinary designs but in a design with configurations all items are transferred to the derived design even if unselected.
@Phil.E Is this a known limitation?
