HELP - unable to create drawing with both flat pattern and folded component

I am trying to create a drawing to show the bend lines for a component. i create a drawing with the flat pattern but when i try to add a folded view of the component to the drawing i am unable to add it!!! when i try to create new base view in the drawing it does not allow me to select the folded view it just creates a drawing of whole model not the component i am trying to create the bend drawing for!! please help as it is driving me crazy.

Don't do this often so not sure if anything's changed. 

Open the design, then right click the component you want the flat pattern from and select Create Drawing.

On the Create Drawing dialog you can select flat pattern and the existing 2d drawing and a sheet to either create or add too.
