End line checkmark graphic not colocated with click location

Ya know that little check mark that turns green when you roll over it to end a line or curve?   The roll-over location is no longer in the same place as the graphic- I have to hunt around for it in vacant space beyond the indicate location, until the check mark turns green, clicking on blank space to end the line/curve.

Hi mavigogun,

Do you mean the check mark in line command is a bit far from the mouse position in sketch?

Currently there are several methods to end the current line command:

1. By move and click the green check mark.

2. By RMB( Right click) and then select "OK".

3. Just press "ESC" key.

If you want to quickly end line command, I recommend the 3rd method of pressing "ESC" key instead of mouse click.

Thanks,

Frank

Thanks for the tips, Frank.    It ain't just that it's far- placing the mouse over the check mark does nothing- the graphic for the command and the point on the screen that activates the command are divorced from each other.   If I hunt around, placing the pointer over a blank spot removed from the check mark will active the green roll-over graphic for the check mark.   I appreciate the alternatives- just thought y'all might like to know about this aberration.

Hi mavigogun,

I had a try on my local build just now on windows 7 and cannot reproduce this issue in your screencast. I guess it is related to specific model.

Can you easily reproduce your issue on a new sketch by just creating one line?

It would be appreciated if you could upload your model or send it to weining.cao@autodesk.com to go on analyze the problem.

Thanks,

Frank

With this most basic document can be seen the end-line icon is activated by clicking on adjacent space- not the icon - in the primary view the line was created in. Notice this is not the case for the three other view windows.

This is a demonstration of the most inconsequential instance; at worse the, location may be at an extended distance- up to several centimeters of screen distance.

Cast to be posted as requested.

@FrankCao

It seems that the glitch is related to resized windows in multiview mode. With default sizes (synced or just after reset) - all works perfect. But if I resize a view - Voila! I see the same as @mavigogun demonstrated.

BTW:

Currently there are several methods to end the current line command:

1. By move and click the green check mark.

2. By RMB( Right click) and then select "OK".

3. Just press "ESC" key.

 4. Double-click instead of single-click when finish the line (when insert last point).

Great research, GrAndAG!  #4 is appreciated, too.

Thanks @Anonymous for the great finding!

Also thanks @mavigogun for provide detailed explanation.

Now I can reproduce the issue easily! I will log a bug and send it to our development team to investigate.

This may have broader implications for instances of seemingly uneditable features- unselectable lines, etc.

I've just confirmed this bug is directly responsible for an inability to select the rotation control when using Move/Copy>Free Move; the inability has, heretofore, been capricious- switching to single view port, the aberration vanished.   This affirms for me that many "why can't I" flavored complaints stem from this fault.

You'll notice that my pointer in the screencast capture is dislocated from everything I'm relaying- THE POINTER IN THE CAPTURE DOES NOT REFLECT WHERE THE POINTER WAS ON SCREEN DURING THE CAPTURE.   Apparently, this bug has many implications.

Thanks mavigogun

This seems a more general issue in the user adjusted multiple view. I feel we do lack of testing in this area. Hopefully we will try to fix them soon.

Thanks,

Frank
