Elongate a portion of an existing stl

Hi All,

 

Newbie here.  TIA for you patience and help.

 

I downloaded an stl (see attached) and would like to modify it.  I converted to BRep.  I would like to "stretch" it where I have drawn the line, so that area is longer.  If I scale in y, everything with stretch and I don't want that.

Use Autodesk Meshmixer for such things

Thanks!  I downloaded and tried.  Edit transform scale, but it still stretches the entire piece, making the holes elliptical.  I'm trying to just make the bracket longer, without modifying the ends.

Frankly on something that simple I would remodel from scratch, but since you asked - Split Body, Move Body and then build and combine the new section.

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

So I split, moved, extruded, and joined.  I think that worked, thank you.  Not sure how to build a body.

I would have use precise terms like Extrude rather than "build" in my initial response if you had Attached your file in the original post, but I couldn't tell from the screen capture if there was taper to the geometry or something else that I could not see that would complicate the "build" process.

In any case, sounds like you figured it out.

Always best to post your actual geometry.
