Editing STEP files

Hello,

I have a STEP file which needs a little modification before I can mill it. No matter what I try, I just cannot get it done. I can quite easily remove "stuff" with PressPull in Modelling environment. And sometimes even add, when the surfaces are not curved.

But now I need to extend one complex surface out 4mm, but I cannot find the proper tools to do it. Target is in the attachment, what I want to do is to fill up the space smoothly between the brown extruded bit and rest of the body. I created 3-point construction planes where I needed the surface to be, drew the sketch lines, but in no way I could fill up the contours afterwards...

How should I approach this?

File itself is available at http://a360.co/1HGYlb6

i'm not sure what you are looking for. Do you want to remove the large v notch or are you trying to blend the top of the brown box into the adjacent geometry?

Hi. Yes, I am trying to blend them. Basically I want to extend the curved part of the main body outward a little.

I did get it done somehow by creating bunch of extrusions and then cutting them, but I am thinking that there should be a better/easier way to accomplish this.

You may be able to use the Replace Face command in the Modify drop down menu to obtain an acceptable solution.

Check out the screencast below for more detail.

I hope that helps. Let me know either way! I happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks,
