I'm getting adjusted to Fusion, coming from a background in Inventor.
In Inventor, I often have to model the same assemblies with only dimensions changing. For example, I have multiple bookcases of various widths. I could reuse the same parts for the sides, but would need to create a new part for the horizontal parts, since they are growing. I would simply save a new copy of the original part to create a new part and edit the dimensions. I've also used a similar copying system through Vault (i think it's "copy design") which can copy a whole assembly and relabel each new part with a new sequential part number.
My question is does Fusions have a similar trick/s for copying components and making edits to the new copy, or would I need to create a new component from scratch an remodel it? I've already learned how to easily place the exact same component to multiple assemblies, but those same components cannot be edited.

Hi, if you "Save as" the component you create an independent copy.
Or,
You can also derive the component, in case you want to add other features in the new component that won't propagate to the original one, but, if you make changes to the original component, these will propagate to the new one.

I hope it helps,
