Edit Face command on a solid deletes object

Hello, this is my first post. I have been reading some of the forums and they have been super helpful. I recently ran into a problem that I'm not sure how to overcome. I have a intake tube that I want to make a dent in because it contacts the front fender. I'm attempting to use the modify > edit face command, but when I do it, instead of doing what the preview shows, it deletes the material. I haven't worked with T-splines before as I haven't needed a complex curved surface. This is my first time working with this type of modeling.

You have numerous Bodies and 3 Components.

Which body are you attempting to edit?

Is there a logical reason that you do not have Capture Design History active?

Is something like this what you are attempting to achieve?

Thank you for the quick reply. That's exactly what I'm trying to do! I grouped a couple of components together for this one bike, I didn't expect to post it asking for help so the file is a little disorganized. I disactivated design history because several guides I saw using the edit face feature said that had to be done. I wouldn't have done it otherwise. How did you do that? Sorry if this is a very basic function, I have been fiddling with it for two hours and couldn't seem to make it work myself.

I turned on the Record History - so my steps are recorded in the Timeline for you to examine.

Is there a reason you are working with the timeline disabled?

See response #3 - bad advice from some “unnamed source”.

Thanks for that file showing me how to do it. I am a total amateur at this and wouldn't have thought to use those commands. I usually stick to sketching and extruding with some fillets. As far as turning the design history off, it was because of these two guides: Fusion 360 help guide and Fusion 360 Forum .

I thought T splines would be my best bet, but I didn't (still don't) know enough about it to work it right.

Just wanted to throw an update to the project. This is a 1960's Honda C100 that I engine swapped and needed a custom intake for. It's not perfect and I'll likely redesign, but it actually fits with your all's help.image_50420737.JPG
