DXF from model date of implementation

I need a date when I will be able to create a DXF from a model.   Being able to create a DXF file to send to my laser cutter is very important to me.

Having to hand write on a DXF created from a sketch is unacceptable to me.   It seems really strange to me that this is not important to any of the rest of the users of Fusion.  Why was the DWF file format used exclusively for export when every CNC laser, plasma, router, etc. use DXF?

Am I the only one the needs this ability?  If so then I will go back to using SpaceClaim and GeoMagic for my CAD needs.

Some of Autodesk's priorities in developing Fusion seem misplaced to me.  One would think they would get basic functions implemented fully before moving to the glitzy bells and whistles.

I have asked this before but never received a clear consise answer.

Hey @burnandreturn , thanks for your feedback we really appreciate it. Just curious if you have looked at the Fusion 360 IdeaStation? The IdeaStation is where the community posts their new feature requests, and can have them voted on by the rest of the community. We as a product team evaluate these submissions and change their status' as we approve and implement them so that everyone can see which ideas are currently in progress, completed or under consideration. Your feature request sounds great, and I'm sure that there are others in the community that would support it, so go ahead and log a request!

Also, I'd like to understand a little bit better about why exporting a DXF from a sketch in Fusion is unacceptable for you. Is the quality of the DXF not what you're looking for, or is it more a matter of workflow? Are you looking to be able to export a DXF only off of the model geometry, or are you looking for DXF capabilities from within the Drawings workspace of Fusion 360 as well? Any additional details about the problems you're facing in this workflow will be super helpful to us as we look to improve how we handle (import, export, etc.) DXF's in Fusion in the future.

Best,

Timera

I want to be able to send an E-mail with an attached DXF  to the shop that does my laser cutting.   In that DXF I would like to be able to include three views.  Top view,  side view and orthographic view.

Have the material specifications,  thickness,  etc..  I cannot do that with a DXF export from a sketch.

Why is it not possible to have the option of either DWF or DXF when creating a drawing from a model?

Great, thanks for clarifying that for us. We are working aggressively on the Drawings workspace to round of the breadth of functionality that users like you have been requesting. Based on user feedback, we have already started to look at ways in which we can support lasercutting workflows via DXF, but we don't yet have a release date on when it will be released. By the way, I assume that these views need to be in 1:1 scale?

If you could post a request for this to the IdeaStation, we can keep you aprised of the status of this feature as weimplement and plan on a release date for it.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best,

Timera

You have answered my question.  It is not coming soon.  So I will stop bothering with Fusion 360 Ulitmate and use my other programs and check back in here in 6 months to see what has changed.  For my way of thinking it is a huge mistake to not have some of the simple things working before venturing off into the glitzy stuff.  But what do I know!

As I said I have alternatives but do have an interest in Fusion.  Not having DXF capability is a deal breaker for me.
