Duplicate component then add feature to just 1

Hi, I'm wanting to create 2 components that are identical apart from 1 hole which is in a different position on each part. I want to be able to modify 1 component and the other to be updated the same - apart from the additional holes.

Is this possible? I've tried creating the component and then duplicating which works fine but can't see a way to then add a hole to each independently - I was hoping that features added after the duplicate was created would not be replicated.

Is there another approach I should use? Any help appreciated.

I answered that question in this thread. While it did not fit the needs of that user due to the complexity of his components, it will fit yours.
