I read this Explode tutorial from AutoDesk for Fusion 360. But I cant seem to get it to work. I have 3 parts to a model. A main body, a cap, and some fasteners. Its a model of a BMX stem.

Hi claytonmiller147,

The "Auto Explode:One Level" and "Auto Explode: All Level" commands in Animation workspace just work for the components in assembly, if you want to explode it, you can "create components from bodies" and make sure the components are not separated each other in Model workspace, and then switch to Animation workspace to do the explode. Wish this information is helpful to you.

After you do the steps above, if you still have problem to do the explode, please feel free to let me know, My email address is "irene.chen@autodesk.com"

Thanks

Irene

Thank you for the reply! I will try that in the morning.

Is it possible to take it to the level of showing fasteners screwing into their threaded holes by creating components of those as well. So not only is it an exploded view but can show them connect into the part in an animated fashion as well?

Hi laytonmiller147,

You can use "Transform Components" command in animation workspace to show the fasteners screwing into their threaded holes by Move and Rotate actions.

Thanks

Irene

When I explode its not arranged how one would want it. How do I organize the exploded view and save it that way for when I want to use it in an animation?

Hi claytonmiller147,

There is 2 ways for your cases.

1) Edit Actions,

Move action for each component is created on action panel after do Auto Explode, you can edit the actions or replace it with a new action by transform command to get the right animation you want.

2) Use Manual Explode instead of auto-explode to explode the assembly.

Thanks

Irene
