Drawing Template Part Name instead of File Name

Hello guys,

I'm sure this is relatively simple but I'm stuck. How can I get the part name instead of the file name in the title field of the title block? I'm using a custom template and it all works great but for assemblies with a lot of parts it gets a bit tedious.

Thanks in advance,

Kostas.

This model property is not yet available as a title block automated attribute.  You will have to continue using a custom attribute.

Wow, really. I thought it was accessible because it how the sheets are named when using a smart template.

So basically I thought that because it gives the sheets the correct name, I could access the property as "Sheet Name" or something.

Thanks for your response anyway. Will continue the current workflow.

Hi @Ex_Machina_Engineering

In the latest release of Fusion, we added new model attributes to the title block. These include; Material, Mass, Part Name and Part Number. Check out the details in the latest what's new blog post: https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/blog/may-2022-product-update-whats-new/#Drawings

I'd love your feedback on this. If you're up for it, here is a link to my calendar, please book a session with me, I can show you what we're building over Zoom. I'll even give you a sneak peek at some of the upcoming projects that we are working on.

Hi, I would love to see the ability to hide the "Version Number" from the end of the part name. Just because I hit the save button a few times while modeling doesn't mean I want the part to be labeled an arbitrary version number on my drawing template. Thank You

Where are you seeing the part version number in the 2D Drawing?  In the screen capture below you can see the Version number in the Browser but not in the Parts List or in the Drawing Title in the title block.

When using the text properties variable of in the Text box it includes the "vXX" - It would be great for it not have that or at least to use the "named version" or "milestone version" instead of the "save version" if that makes sense.

This was me adding a text box in a drawing template with that variable, as I want the variable to carry over when a drawing is created across all sheets - That is why it is placed in the Properties area, but it is not a properties text per say.

You can eliminate all version number in the Part Number if you edit the Properties in the Model and remove the version number.  I know this is a manual change but it is only a one time change and will not update no matter how may times you save the model.

That would be a work around potentially, but I use a part name and a part number. Because a drawing template does not utilize the "TITLE" properties variable, I have had to add the text block with the text variable in my template. I guess that is a separate issue as well.
