drawing in free space ?

Getting the hang of fusion. Coming from sketchup software the biggest hurdle is drawing between two objects in free space for me.

My model attached has opposing stair pieces. I want to draw lines and arcs from the center of the opposing circles (circles are blue in picture). The spline that is there now I drew but I did it a poor way and didn't have the control I need.

I want the line to go straight out from the center of the circle , then curve back and forth and then straight back into the opposing center. In this example the line would be on the horizontal plane. I want it to be a sketch I can edit. Once the line is drawn I would use the pipe command.

With nothing in that space I tried to put a construction plane but didn't work.

That's 3D sketching it's not that easy in fusion yet, the easiest way I find to do it is you pop the view cube on a angle just click on a corner of the view cube (that thing in the top right corner), when you are in that view you can pick up the points on a face. It takes some practise.

You can't at this time as far as I know add dimensions to 3D sketches you have to make sure the body to body distances is correct before you do the 3D sketching.

Thanks for the input so far. The easiest solution i found was to draw my shape to the side on a flat plane. Then move the shape in place.

Where this method wouldn't work is creating a waterslide. There the path is curved and isn't on a level plane.
