Drawing - dimension decimal separator

Hello!

I was wondering if it is possible to change the decimal point display in drawings - from point to comma?
While adjusting this option in preferences, it changes it in the preferences display and in sketches - but not also in drawings which would be much needed.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Kind regards,
Denise

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately drawings have aligned with the ISO and ASME drafting standards and as a result use a decimal point. So although sketches will display a comma, the change does not modify drawings. Can I ask why you need a comma? Are you trying to match an existing company drafting or construction standard?

Thanks,

Andrew

Thanks for fast feedback @andrew.de.leon !!

I'm trying to follow the European Construction Standard which we're using at our University.
To be more specific, at the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Engineering.

I would be extremely grateful if there would be an update for this option!

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,
Denise

No problems Denise, and thanks for providing more details about your request.

At this stage, Fusion 360 Drawings has aligned with the ISO and ASME drafting standards for manufacturing. So we don't do a very good job of supporting construction or building standards. I will add you request to our roadmap and in the meantime, it would be great if you could add your request to the idea station so other users can vote on it.

Thanks,

Andrew

Here in Argentina we also use comma for decimals following IRAM.

It would be really helpfull for all University Students of Design and Engineering to have that add on the drawings in order to not change every dimension by hand. Slows up the process a lot.

If you find yourself in our shoes please vote here: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-ideastation-archived/comma-as-decimal

thank you!

The Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT) also uses the comma as decimal symbol.

Hi Andrew (/ Autodesk Support),

I'm not sure I agree with you that ISO specifies the dot as a decimal marker rather than the comma. My understanding is that ISO 129 (used in UK, France and Germany at least, and also called out in BS 8888 which is a very commonly used and comprehensive draughting standard), requires the comma to be used as the decimal marker and spaces between thousands so e.g. 20,001.34 becomes 20 001.34 (see attached excerpt of BS 8888).

Could this option be added for the drawings please in Fusion 360? Hopefully it is quite a simple change?

Thanks,

Lawrence
