Different HOME position

Call me stupid, old, outdated, uneducated - I don't care 😁

I have a question/problem

Can Fusion be set to open work area different than it is right now?

In preferences I have set my vertical axis to Z

Right now on New File opening Home position cube show top quadrant as TOP (that's what I want) to the right quadrant show Right (I would like to be FRONT) to the left quadrant show Front (I would like to be RIGHT)

Is this possible at all?

I know how to do that "manually" every time I have to open a file. Creates big mess, in my head and in designs, if I forget to change it in the way I want to be. And, I never ever could be able to set left cube Quadrant to RIGHT. If I change right cube quadrant to FRONT my Left Cube Quadrant switch to LEFT.

Resetting left and right is not available.

Select Back, and ignore that wording.

Might help....

Thank you for the answer. Don't help.

What I don't understand at all - who in AD decided to have coordinate system organized like that?
In my head is this - positioning an object in 3D Iso Home Position Cube:

Take the car as the main model (or bike, as I make them😆)

As I was thought in Mechanical Design - the main axis, X, of the object is the longest one of said object. For the car it is from front to the back (+/- orientation is not yet there) Looking from the top on the car, there is definitely the Right side (non driver) on the place where is now saying Front and then FRONT (what everybody knows as the front of the car) where is now saying Right?????????

Even if I would adopt Front where Front is right now (and orient the model main axis over Y what is heresy) present orientation, how the hell (looking from the top) on the right square can say Right, when in this case MUST say at least Left.

I really suggest to AD people to take deep look on to this. Or I am the only moron asking?

@Phil.E can anything be done?

I know what you mean, been debated here before.  The labels are for the view camera, not the model.

yes, it has been debated a lot, and no, it is not likely to ever change, in all honesty.  While I understand this from the automobile or other vehicle design point of view, this is a standard CAD convention.  I think it has to do with drawing views, as well as camera.

Thank you for letting me know. I am beating an old drum 😂

Yet, AD can stick to their setup, but why not let people who don't like their idea (and pay them money) change that for themselves??????? As a Preference setting.

Is it such a big deal in programing script that the whole Fusion will be disturbed?

And talking about conventions in CAD, they came after manual drafting. Basically the views, as they are in the cube right now.

But, we are in age and environment of 3D modeling, not drafting.

No.  But, we have a limited team, and must prioritize the work so that it benefits the most people.  I know that this is important to you, but, to be brutally honest, it is not that important to a lot of people.  So, while no one is saying this is a bad idea, I feel like I need to be straight with people and tell them that even good ideas don't necessarily equate to high-priority ideas.  I see many good ideas that a few people think are important every week.  If we addressed them all, we would never get to the things that really are important to a lot of people.  So, never say never, but I would not recommend holding your breath until we get to this one.  Sorry not to have a better answer.

Thank you Jeff.

Majority rules.

I'll use what I have 😪

In the mean time, I have much bigger problem F-260 crashed on Extrusion command 5 times in 7 tries.

Something deeply wrong.

@veso58S5W Your crash is graphics related. The Radeon drivers you have are relatively new, from June, 2021. I've logged a ticket for it.

You can try a couple things.

Preferences > Graphics driver > use DX9 or OpenGl

Please let me know if this helps.
