Determine Which Plane A Sketch Is On

How/where can I determine which plane a sketch is on?

This is probably so elementary a newbie can't find the answer online!

unfortunately, not so elementary.  There is no easy way to do this today.  The only method is manual:  Edit the sketch and rotate the view around, and get an idea of the plane that way.

OK thanks, that wasn't expected!

At least I don't feel quite so ignorant.  🙂

So many posts on this topic. Pretty crazy there's been no progress on this after so many years! I'd even be ok with needing to use sketch.info or something like that in the text command box to get some reference info.

Hi,

I use mSt sketch Tools, but unfortunately it is no longer available.
Maybe something like this can be implemented in Fusion.

I'll often open the sketch and check the "slice" box.  if there is a body to intersect it will be pretty obvious where the sketch plane is,  unless you have a bunch of sketch planes in the same area

Hi @g-andresen , wow that looks very handy… can you share the code for mSt sketch tools?

It’s a bit of an extra step, but I can definitely recommend making construction planes that correspond to your sketches especially if they if they’re not on the origin planes.

Hi Jeff,

Bumping this again for a feature request. Surely this wouldn't be difficult to implement? I have complex parts with 50-100 construction planes and occasionally have to reference construction planes between multiple components. It is extremely tedious to hunt through all of these to try to guess which construction plane I need to modify. It would be extremely helpful if the "Redefine Sketch Plane" dialog would highlight the current sketch plane/part face.
