Hey all.

On the attached hood setup, I want to draw pieces to close off the ends. What are your tricks to trace that profile, and get a sheet metal part with the bolt holes included as efficiently as possible? I managed to do it but feel like there's easier ways, as it took me awhile.

Only one sketch is needed to place the holes in the end flanges since they are all on the same plane.

You can also use a rectangular pattern to create the other four copies.

On the photo attached, say I place the sketch plane on selected plane (orange arrow). I then want to select the entities (green arrows) to draw the profile of the end cover. How can I do that? It won't snap to those lines (green arrow) when I hover over them, like it does to the lines in the selected sketch plane (orange arrow). Does that make sense what I want to do? 😄

While in an active sketch - P for Project and select the edges or points.

The way you have modeled this - you sizes do not make logical sense to me?

I knew there was something easier - project works well.

Yeah the sizes are a little funky. it should be an even 30" on the outside of the hood. Is it the bend parameters that need adjusting to set it right?

@jeph00

See Attached example.

Edit the dimensions in Sketch1 as needed.

It's a best practice to use dimensions which you can measure.
