Delete stp file

Can´t delete an uploaded stp file after all connected previous designs / drawings are deleted The drop down in the data panel clearly says , not used in nor referencing to or included in any drawing.

Only previous post on this seems to be from 2016 mentioning a glitch and the accepted solution seemed to verify that.

I'm assuming the STP file was translated into a Fusion design then imported into another design at some point?  If you inserted the design into another design you'll need to delete this design completely, not just delete the referenced STP file from the current version.

Because Fusion keeps a complete version history of your designs the STP file is still referenced in an old version of a design. Unfortunately Fusion has no tools to tell you what design references the STP file after you remove it from the current version and even if it did there's no way to delete or edit the version history of a design.

If you know the file that referenced the STP file in the past you could use Save Copy as to create a new copy with no design history, delete the original then delete the STP file.

Hi Mark,

The stp files origin from scan data processed in QuickSurface and then converted to stp. The design is an assembly built up from appr. 15-20 scanned parts which are joined together using F360 to design the missing elements.

Reverse engineering.

To lose design history would be fatal in this case as there sometimes are many iterations going back to QS for adjustments of geometry on a single part thus resulting in a number of stp files not in use but still in the file list.

I leave the case open for more comments to arrive,,,

Just to be clear I'm talking about file version history not design history. If you insert file A into file B save B a couple times then delete A from version 3 of file B it is still liked the file B's V1 and 2. So you can not delete file A as it's still liked to file B's file history.

The only way you can get around this is use Save As and create a copy of file B, then delete the original design B. Of course this will not be a good work around if B is used in other designs or 2d drawing.

The only other workaround is just create a folder called Deleted or Junk and put the unneeded designs in there.

As I said Fusion has no tools to edit or clean up file history so there's no nice way to clean out designs you no longer need.
