Delete multiple sketch constraints

Hi,

I regularly project parts to create new sketch elements, especially when using an old design to create something new.  I rarely want my new sketch to be constrained so is there a way of bulk removing the constraints?

Thanks,

Nick

You may want to explain why you don't want your sketches to be constrained.

If it helps you answer my question 🙂

I sometimes use an old design to start something new.  I use a body from another design and project its outline, simply using the body for scale, vague outline shape or some elements which appeal to me.  Once projected, I have no interest in referencing this body, the constraints just get in the way.

How can I bulk delete constraints or is this impossible?

I believe what you want to do is. Is not deleting the constraints, but the link between the projected sketch elements and the geometry they have been projected from.

You should be able to window-select these projected lines and then right-click and select “break link”.

Then, if the sketch does not “behave “ the way to want it to when changing it, you can delete and reapply individual constraints. At least that would be my suggestion. These constraints that can also be found in the sketch palette pane opening when you are editing a sketch cannot be bulk deleted. That would also really not be a good idea.
