Data Panel Empty

When I start Fusion 360 I get error messages that AdCefWebBrowser.exe is missing. When Fusion 360 is up the data panel is blank. I tried to uninstall Fusion 360 to do a new install but I get an error indicating the the uninstall program could not be found. I can not access any of my design data from Fusion 360 but I am able to see the data in A360.

What can I do to restore Fusion 360?

Hi @ehanson4Y5AB4

The issue could be that the "Adcefwebbowser.exe" process is probably exiting unexpectedly

due to a conflict with a third party software or the operating system.

Here are couple things you could try:

1. Could you try to test it with anti-virus software disabled?

2. You may want to add an exception in the Firewall for the Adcefwebrowser.exe?

The executable for this is located in

    C:\Users\%PROFILE%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\webdeploy\production\<Build Specific ID>\Win64

Could you perhaps check if you may access the internet through a Proxy server?

Thanks,

I have searched for the Adcefwebrowser.exe and it does not exist on my computer. I would like to do a clean install but need to uninstall the current version first.  When I try to uninstall Fusion 360 I get the error message that the uninstall program could not be found. Is there another way to do the uninstall?

There are some manual clean uninstall instructions in the below link that should help.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How...

Are you running Avast anti-virus software by any chance? It may help to add exceptions for Autodesk Fusion 360, if you are. We have also noted instances where the display driver man need to be updated for adcefwebbrowser.exe to function normally.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/design-validate-document/fusion360-doesnt-start-properly/td-p/5953300...

I note the executable should be located in a directory similar to below:

C:\Users\%PROFILE%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\webdeploy\production\<Build Specific ID>\Win64

One other thing that may help is to toggle the Auto-detect proxy settings:

Mac OS
1. From the Apple menu, select System Preferences
2. Select Network
3. Select the correct network (ethernet, wireles, airport, etc)
4. In the Proxies tab, enable/disable Auto Proxy Discovery
5. Apply changes and retest

Windows
1. Browse to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Internet Options
2. In the  Connections tab, select LAN settings
3. Try to Enable/Disable Automatically detect settings option
3. Apply the changes and retest.

I hope one of these suggestions helps!

Thanks,

I have manually uninstalled Fusion 360 and attempted to do a clean install. Every time I have attempted this the install process quits prior to completion. Sometimes it quits with a few % completion. Other times with up to 98% complete. I have looked at the the autodesk.webdeploy.streamer.log file and can find no indication of why the install failed. I have attached a sample log file. Also, if I try to do a second install without rebooting the PC the install will fail immediately. What should I try next?

Thanks for the log file and sorry to hear about the ongoing struggle. I looked at the log but didn't immediately spot any error messages in the log file. I've forwarded it on for some more expert advice, I or someone else may circle back if we find out anything more with the log file.

If you have any anti-virus software running in the background, could you try disabling it?

Did you have any difficulties with the clean uninstall process?

Are you installing on your home network or another network?

Thanks,

I have not had problems doing a manual uninstall. I am operating on my home hardwired (not wifi) network connected to the internet via a cable modem. When I just attempted an install with the firewall and virus scanning turned off I get the same results.

Hi @ehanson4Y5AB4,

Thank you for keeping us updated.

Have you perhaps tried to install the "Fusion 360 Client Dowloader ...*.exe" with right-click and "Run as Administrator?

Have you tried the "Diagnostic startup" by executing "msconfig.exe" and apply?

Could you may share your system information with us?

This could give us a hint.

Here is a quick guide how to get the system info:

Windows 7 or 8
1. Launch %windir%\system32\msinfo32.exe
2. Click on file > Save
3. Save the NFO file
4. Zip the file to compress it for e-mail.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

I was able to install Fusion 360 if I ran the installer as administrator. On starting Fusion 360 everything seemed to be functioning and I was able to edit  project that I had been working on. After exiting and restarting Fusion 360 I was back to my original problem where there was an error on startup indicating that the browser process could not be started and the data panel was blank. A standard uninstall did not complete and I had to do a manual uninstall. I reinstalled again (as administrator) and got the same results with the data panel empty on the second start.
I am running Windows 10 and have attached the system info.
What next?

Hi Eric,

Thanks for sending me your system information file! I'm not sure why it wouldn't let you attach it here...

It looks like your graphics drivers haven't been updated in just over a year. I have seen Fusion 360 have issues with AdCefWebBrowser.exe in the past if the drivers aren't up to date.

Could you follow this link to check to make sure that your drivers are the most current? Could you then re-test Fusion 360 to see if the error persists?

I look forward to hearing back from you!

Cheers,

I updated the display drive. Uninstalled and reinstalled Fusion 360. Still can see the data panel on first launch of Fusion 360 but not the second launch. I searched for AdCefWebBrowser.exe and it does not exist on my C drive.

Hi @ehanson4Y5AB4,

I have used the search function in my windows 7 system and AdCefWebBrowser.exe did not show up.

Could you may go into this folder and search for for the *.exe manually if it is there?

Here is how the path looked like on my computer.

C:\Users\graum\AppData\Local\Autodesk\webdeploy\production\f61ab1dfd94b3aa875226de3a402c49fbd3874b6\Win64

Thanks,

Hi @ehanson4Y5AB4,

Thank you for the update.

Could you try to change the permission for the Autodesk folder and elevate the Fusion 360 shortcut to "Run as Administrator"

Here is how to do that:

1. Change the permission of the Autodesk folder:

  • Go to C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local and right-click at the Autodesk folder
  • Open the properties and uncheck read only

        User-added image

2. Elevate Fusion 360 Desktop Shortcut to 'run as administrator' to enable the 'AdCefWebBrowser.exe' process to start:

  • Right-click at the Fusion 360 Desktop Shortcut and click Properties
  • Toggle to Compatibility and set the check "Run this program as an administrator"
  • Open "Change settings for all users" and set the check "Run this program as an administrator" again
  • Now apply the changes

       User-added image

I hope this helps. Please, keep me updated.

Thanks,
