Cropping views in Fusion 360

Is it possible to crop views in Fusion 360? I have drawings of several assemblies, but would like to zoom in on specific areas. Just hiding parts to make the overall view smaller doesn't really work in this case, because part of what I want to zoom in on still needs to show a portion of the larger components.

The closest I have found as a workaround is to create a view outside of the visible page, and then make a detail view. The problem with this is that since Fusion 360 apparently only allows for circles to surround the detail area, each of these zoomed parts are surrounded by a circle, which is not working for our drawing packets.

We don't have cropped views yet, but this is something on our roadmap. Something that I use quite successfully is to place a new base view, and to then use the "Break View" command to split the view twice (horizontally and vertically).

If a normal "Break View" is not quite what you are looking for, there is a trick that you can use. This is to edit the "Gap", by putting in a larger number, you can stretch the ends of the view so that they are off the sheet, as shown below.

@ClintBrown3D Any update on this? The break view and detail view options don't work in a lot of cases, and I've found threads asking for this feature as far back as 2016 with no clear timeline on when it will get added.

Hi @liamwilford

Crop views are coming very soon ! !

The development of the feature is complete, it has been going through testing and validation and will be available for early adopters in one of the next releases of the Fusion Insider, before being released to the public.

Every customer request that we get, from customer engagements, email requests, tech support, forum posts etc. gets collected and categorised in our feature request backlog. This information is used to prioritise the features that we build. It's worth noting that sometimes a feature request can seem to take a lot longer than you might expect (to get into the product). This is usually because there are other prioritized features in the queue ahead of it. Prioritization of features is based on many factors, but one of the largest influencers is the amount of customer requests we get (as outlined above). The more requests for a feature, the more likely it will be considered. This one has had plenty of requests and is getting the love it deserves!
