Create Engineering drawings

I have a metal part and when I asked a local company if they can make it, they ask me for Engineering drawings. I told them I have the 3d step files and other 3d cad drawings but they said they could not use those and they needed 2d engineering drawings.  Talk about old school.

I can see this was a feature request that was implemented but I can't find out how to do them.  Can someone tell me how to create the engineering drawings?  Thanks in advance.

Hi @Anonymous,

If you have your model created already, just go to the file menu and select New Drawing -> From Design and it will generate a new drawing. There are some specs that you may need to ask what they prefer/use (page size, ISO, ASME), but for the most part it should be pretty straightforward from that part on. My recommendation is to go into the Help menu in Fusion (top-right corner) and select Learn Fusion 360 and read up on the section about Drawings. Make sure to add dimensions and the proper views to your drawing!

Let me know if you have any questions or need some help!

Thanks,

Can you create Patent Drawings with the USPTO specification for material shading and line designations?

Hey @Anonymous, awesome question. We don't currently support the USPTO specification for material shading and line designations, we only support ISO and ASME standards. You can, however create all of the view types necessary for patent drawings (assembly views, exploded views).

Can I ask how often you need to create these kinds of patent drawings? I'll make sure that this new feature request gets captured in our backlog for future prioritization discussions.

Thanks,
Timera

Not very often, about the same times as the dimension drawing.
