Hi  Mr/Mrs RC-CnC,

There is a lot of interest in 'springs' lately… as Winter is ending (for Northerners).

Look at the API Forum section.

How to do it … without putting in a lot of sweat and blood?

A spring (a coil) object can be quite easily parametrized and rendered in F360.

The simple demo file is attached. Look at User Parameters definitions.

Extend the model with additional model features (e.g. spring's feet).

Predicting your question ...

Can the spring height be driven by a joint (like a slider)?

The answer is ... realistically without sweat and blood, NO. … for the F360 you are using.

More advanced models are possible (with some effort), as visualized in my separate post titled… "Spring".

Regards

MichaelT

I've watched the tutorial and checked your file, and the first thing I noticed is that you're using the wrong tool.

In the tutorial he's using an "As Built Joint", and in your file you're using a "Joint", which changes the whole approach.

Also, you're file doesn't contain any grounded components, and the tutorial shows multiple components being grounded (pinned).
