Create a recess from a surface outline

I'm new to working with Fusion and am trying to create a recess on a tool I'm designing. What I would like is to basically scale the outline of the surface inward and then push the inner surface in 1/16th leaving a raised ridge on the outline of the tool. I hope this is clear, thanks in advance.

There are several different methods to create recesses.  There are also several different ways to interpret what you wrote.  Please attach your file (File|Export|Archive file *.f3d) or a drawing to the thread.

I was able to produce the recess I was looking for:

• I started a new sketch
• selected project/include
• include 3D geometry
• select offset
• created a small offset 0.04" and selected flip
• push/pull to create the recess

Being new to this myself, I created a project, I've stumbled through getting most of it done the way I wanted but still have a couple things that need to be done and I have no idea of how to do them. For instance much like what you were trying to do I have used the extrude to get recesses done but now that doesn't seem to be working. For instance, I went through a lot and finally got my logo done. Then I stumbled onto getting that project into the one I've been working on but now I cannot extrude it to make the recess. So, I had extruded the sketch in it's own project and got it into my main project. When I look at it, it is offset from the face on the plane that I want to put it on. I've extruded it to 0.06 but that is obviously way too much but can't seem to get it to the depth I'm looking for so I'm wondering that if I already extruded it, that might be what's giving me trouble so I'm thinking that if I extrude it back to a sketch thickness that maybe it'll then extrude into my part?

It would be best to create a new topic for this.  Attach both of your files to the thread(File menu/Export/Archive file *.f3d).  There are multiple methods to create recesses, so your files will help determining which one is best.

I did start another topic on the board but no replies so far. I believe I was able to get one for uploaded but for some reason the second one wouldn't stay up
