Create a pineapple 3D - Knurling

Hi Guys,

I am trying to recreate this pineapple 🍍 (see picture in attachment).

Here is how I try to solve this problem:

1st: Create the egg shake and extrude/revolve

2nd: Create the guide line that will follow the contour of the pineapple by using the 3d sketch mode (doesn't work for me) or split face.

3rd: create the Knurling tool that and use pattern to multiply it.

I got stuck and I can't find the best way to recreate that.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help!

One way to do this is to use a sweep along a helix.  You (may or may not) need a left and a right hand helix.  The helices should be slightly higher than the model at the top and the diameters at the equator should be equal.

This will give you shallower cuts as you approach the poles. (Note: The above is just a profile view, not the actual helix.)

Another way to do this would be bisect the model at an angle, then use that as the path for the sweep.

Again, if you want the cuts to be shallower at the poles, then use a slightly larger size to create the path.

p.s. This would be fairly straight forward to create with a rose engine.
