Create 3D printable surface texture

Hi All,

For an art class I would like to create a 3D printed sculpture that also looks and feels like a sculpture. So I would like to add the surfcae texture to the 3D print.

Does anyone know for an option how to do this? It would be super if the material library had stuctures that can actually be added to the models rather than represent an image. For exmaple, in the early days  a thread was an image and now we can have a modelled thread.

Any suggestion is welcome 🙂

Thanks!

Harold

I like the idea/suggestion. Could be super useful. Scriptable surface remeshing or something... phew. Sounds Awesome.

My guess would be that you have to take it out of Fusuion into something like Mesh Mixer...
but I would love this in Fusion.

There is a neat add-in on the below website that will allow you to convert an image to a surface.

https://github.com/hanskellner/Fusion360Image2Surface

However, I'm not sure it will get 100% of the way there.

I've located a feature enhancement request in the ideastation link, below.

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/ideastation-request-a-feature-or/surface-textures-for-3d-printing/idi-...

You should vote this Idea up to help raise the likelihood of it being implemented. I gave it a vote too to help!

Thanks,

Not what we hoped for. Haven't tried it very indepth so to be honest you should give it a chance yourself.
