Couple of questions

Hi all,

I'm trudging through, slowly getting to know F360. To refresh, I'm a long term (>20 years) SolidWorks user learning F360 for personal projects.  Previously I've used SketchUp for a lot of my personal stuff, but I simply cannot in good conscience use SketchUp any longer because of the absolutely horrendous models it creates.  'nuff said.

As part of my trudging, I'm doing some simple stuff from scratch, but mostly I'm migrating stuff from SketchUp. I know, I know, I'm a glutton for punishment.

Up to this juncture the majority of my personal projects have been woodworking designs. Typically these are pretty simple, but occasionally I get a wild hair and use trim that typically is cut with a router.

With that out of the way, I've got several questions:

  1. Is there a way to export a component (part) from a design directly to my F360 workspace?  In other words without exporting it to my local computer and the importing it. Seems logical, but If it's there, I'm not seeing it.
  2. As expected, some of my SketchUp "models" are problematic. How do I close a body missing a face? Here is the part in question: http://a360.co/2mc2DxG.  As you can see, I've already converted it from a mesh to a body, but somewhere along the way, a face went missing. I would like to be able to close this up and form a complete body. I've also got a component with too many faces, but lets slay the first problem first and then perhaps I can figure out that one.
  3. I've got a couple of models that I've managed to get completely imported.  I've applied "In-Place Joints" for the interfaces and all is well.  Sort of. When I go back later to begin tweaking the models, I have an extremely difficult time determining which joint is applied to which components.  I've got the it set to show the joints in the model, but oftentimes the appropriate joints are difficult to find without turning them off one by one.  Any hints?

I've been extolling the virtues of F360 far and wide.  You guys have done a wonderful thing firstly in creating this product and secondly by making it available to the enthusiast community at no cost.  It's a brilliant strategy to build a customer base as the product matures. Nicely done.

Thanks in advance.

1. Right click on the component in browser and choose "Save as" just under the "Export."

2. You can fix it in Patch workspace. Delete extra faces, apply Patch to the contour and then Stitch. You will get a solid body.
