Could underpowered Graphics card cause errors?

When i try and match the tspline edges to the body, sometimes it works and sometimes it causes the main body to disappear when i finish form -  sometimes it'll work, but if i just edit feature on the headlight casing or body and finish form again (without modifying anything), it'll give me a split face delete face error -

i am using an lenovo yoga 2 pro with an integrated intel 4400 video card... could that be the issue or is it my workflow?

Hi,

 

I doubt the video card would be to blame here. There is no way for your GPU to change the model such that modeling errors occur.

 

What is likely happening is your edits are creating a condition that causes downstream operations to fail, you mention a split command failing downstream.

 

If you can share the model and steps you are taking I'll be glad to look at it. Or perhaps just a video made with Autodesk Screencast so I can see this happen. In either case, let's try to figure this out and make your modeling experience better.

Hi Phil thanks! I'm not sure if I shared the model correctly but here goes nothing:

Pls keep in mind that I had never touched a 3D design software prior to June -  so I am completely new to this world (but i think i'm hooked).

 

One of the issues i'm having that's preventing me from moving forward is the inability to zoom like i used to be able to. When my design was lighter, when i only had one or 2 bodies and perhaps less faces and interactions between the bodies in terms of splits etc, i could zoom in practically forever which was essential. Now, when i have errors that i'm trying to find and fix, even when i switch between ALT1 & 3, i'm unable to zoom in making it impossible to work...

Thanks for posting the model. Nice design!

 

What is happening is this: An edit you have made to the Sculpt body has produced a condition that won't allow it to convert to a model body. This happens when you have faces that overlap each other. 

 

In this case it appears to be the faces around the exhaust. When I attempt to go from Sculpt to Model (which forces a conversion from T-Spline to Brep model) there is a warning that it will not convert. If you click "return" you can see the errant faces in red. Those areas have to be repaired so they don't fold back onto themselves or other faces. The error message is accurately describing the problem.

So it's not your video card. It's the way Sculpt works. For a highly detailed design such as this, I would suggest putting fine details into separate bodies. You have done some of that. In this case it might help to keep the rear fender/bumper as a separate body. That will help keep the complexity down and troubleshooting easy.

 

Regarding the zoom issue you mention. Switch to Orthographic camera, that should help. Please let me know if it doesn't.
